Question: I want to burn my blu ray content (1080p)to a disc (dual layer) to play on a normal dvd player, but have received conflicting advice. Some people can tell me how to compress and backup my Blu-Ray to Dual Layer DVD Disc (DVD9)?
What’s DVD DL?
Dual Layer DVD Disc is named DVD DL (DL stands for Double Layer), also called DVD 9. DVD 9 recording allows DVD-R and DVD+R discs to store significantly more data, up to 8.5 gigabytes per side, per disc, compared with 4.7 gigabytes for single-layer discs. DVD-R DL was developed for the DVD Forum by Pioneer Corporation, DVD+R DL was developed for the DVD+RW Alliance by Philips and Mitsubishi Kagaku Media (MKM).
How to compress and shrink Blu-Ray movie to fit on Dual Layer DVD Disc (DVD9)?
If you want to burning or copying a Blu-ray movie to fit on your DVD DL, it requires a few prerequisites. You’ll need a Blu-ray burner, DVD-R DL or DVD+R DL disc, BDRebuilder, IMGBurn software and some content (Blu-ray movies) to burn. In this article, we’ll tell that how to burn files extracted from a BD-ROM movie disc to DVD9. First we know that BD Rebuilder is not a decrypter. So to extract (rip) files from a BD-ROM movie disc, I recommend Aunsoft Blu-Ray Ripper.

Guide:
Step 1: Download, install and launch Aunsoft Blu-Ray Ripper, load your Blu-ray movie to the program (You are allowed to check the main movie part for backup to save space.), then select “Directly copy” from the downlist of Format to backup your Blu-ray movie to PC. And you can click “Full Disk Copy” in the main interface for expediently backup the whole Blu-ray movie with chapters to PC or hard drive with ease. Then click “Convert” to start running. After conversion, please go on step 2.
Step 2: Launch BD Rebuilder. Choose the folder with the decrypted Blu-ray files. Then under Settings->Options choose the output file size DVD-9(7.95GB). And then compress and backup blu-ray movie to DVD 9.
Step 3: Burn using Imgburn, now you can add the folder that BD Rebuilder made, select Write files/folders to disc, burn the files to a DVD+R DL or DVD-R DL, and Imgburn will adjust the movie settings correctly.
Then you can enjoy your DVD 9 in DVD Player with superbe quality.
