Although MTS Allstream launched MTS HDTV in Winnipeg in March, 2009, MTS HDTV is currently available to limited areas in Winnipeg, with more areas and features becoming available throughout 2009. Considering about your budget, you may not decide to luxuriously pool money on this one. Then how you are supposed to enjoy your lovely recording works with your HD/AVCHD camcorder? Your HDTV simply doesn’t support AVCHD MTS/M2TS satisfactorily. Hand on, here I have a good solution for you guys to convert MTS or M2TS files to MPEG-2 videos supported by HDTV without any quality loss.
All we need is one good AVCHD converter that has solid and reliable performance with excellent output quality for MERG-2(*.TS) and comparatively fast conversion speed. Luckily, Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter (Win/Mac) is the one worth recommending. Based on my personal experience, the program does what it says on the tin. Besides, it has an extraordinary performance for large files such as +10GB MTS file.
Ok, now let me show you how you can simply convert all your AVCHD recordings to MPEG-2 format for smooth playback on HDTV. It’s simple to use and flexible enough to save your time.
Step 1. Add AVCHD MTS/M2TS files to the program
You can simply drag and drop your AVCHD files to the program or click “Add” button to load your videos. Batch conversion is supported and as I mentioned earlier the program is terrific for large files, so don’t worry about your large recordings from your camcorder. Simply drag and drop them to the converter. This is how the program looks like.
Step 2(Optional). Trim, crop and deinterlace MTS/M2TS files
Editing functions are available in Aunsoft MTS Converter by clicking “Editor” button in the menu bar for you to trim, crop, add text/image/video watermarks and deinterlace your AVCHD MTS/M2TS files. You can tick the checkbox of “Apply to all” to apply your present settings to all your AVCHD files.
Step 3. Choose MPEG-2 output format for HDTV
In this step, we will choose MEPG-2(*.TS) output format for HDTV and at the same time specify destination folder for converted videos. Because High definition TV are usually streamed in MPEG-2 transport stream (.ts) or program stream (.ps). As you can see from the screenshot below, there are multiple HD video options in “HD Video” catalogue from “Format” drop-down menu. In this case, we simply choose MPEG-TS file format for HDTV.
Step 4. Convert AVCHD MTS/M2TS to MPEG-TS supported by HDTV
Start AVCHD MTS/M2S to MPEG-TS Video conversion by clicking the big “Convert” button. Here I’d like to present you one big spotlight of Aunsoft MTS Converter-the function of merging/joining/combining multiple MTS/M2TS files to one single TS output! You can realize the function by simply ticking the checkbox of “Merge into one file”. What you will get is more than just a wonderful AVCHD converter, it’s at the same time, a great MTS/M2TS files joiner!
High-definition television (or HDTV, or just HD) refers to video having resolution substantially higher than traditional television systems (standard-definition TV, or SDTV, or SD). HD has one or two million pixels per frame, roughly five times that of SD. Early HDTV broadcasting used analog techniques, but today HDTV is digitally broadcast using video compression.
