Do you have AVCHD camcorder and shoot memorial moments for sharing? Do you have a copy of AVCHD Blu-ray on hard drive? You may find many different ways to share with families and friends. For example, you can upload to your website or popular video sharing site, burn video to DVD and transfer to portable devices like iPad. However, the file extension of AVCHD files could be .mts or .m2ts. Here I would like to share with you my experience of converting AVCHD files to DVD with the free burning tool ImgBurn.
ImgBurn works with .m2ts files, however, it does not shrink or compress the video when burning to a disc, which will occupy a lot of space on DVD for short videos. We shall compress high definition MTS to SD video for DVD with Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter. To burn a DVD-Video disc, we shall include the DVD-Video file structures with IFOEdit.
Part I. Compress AVCHD MTS/M2TS to SD video.
Step 1. Run Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter and load .mts, .m2ts files to the program.
Step 2. Choose SD video VOB output. Click the Format option and choose VCD/DVD/SVCD > DVD NTSC (4:3) to output DVD VOB file.
Tips: To burn DVD in Europe, just choose DVD PAL (4:3).
Step 3. Convert AVCHD to DVD VOB. Click the convert button to start converting AVCHD MTS/M2TS to VOB in standard definition.
Part II. Create DVD-Video file structure
Run IFOEdit to create IFO and BUP files for DVD. Click the Create IFOs button. We move the output VOB files from part I to a new folder named VIDEO_TS. Then in the Create new IFO files window, browse the VOB file in the new folder. I want the IFO files to be the same folder of the VOB files. Click OK and the IFO files and BUP files will be generated.
Part III. Burn video to SD DVD.
Step 1. Load files to ImgBurn. After clicking the Write files/folders to disc option you will face the following window. We shall create a folder named AUDIO_TS, so as to make sure the DVD works on DVD player. Leave the AUDIO_TS folder empty, but we shall load the folder to the program.
Step 2. Start burning. Click the burn button and the program start burning to DVD disc. Wait for a while and it is that easy to burn MTS to DVD. Just try it by yourself.
