Video Converter for MacBest Mac Video Converter for iPad/iPhone 4/iTouch 4. Transcode HDV/AVCHD to ProRes, AIC,etc.
I just purchased Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2 several days ago. Some people say that it's not a true DSLR but I don't mind because it's really really fantastic. My favorite point is the extremely fast autofocus. I ran a series of tests on my new DMC-GH2 at my sister's wedding. The footages are 1920*1080 full HD video at 24p at 24 mbps. I must say the performance is excellent and I decide to upload these videos to YouTube to share with my friends.
But I interrupted a problem that the video file extension from GH2 is .MTS. I google it and find that this is AVCHD format which is developed jointly by Sony and Panasonic and it's announced in 2006, I'm a little out-of-date. I always use Final Cut Pro 6 to edit videos and upload to YouTube. FCP doesn't work this time and I know ProRes 422 is the right format I should use, so I turned to Yahoo Answer and found a software to make a GH2 AVCHD to ProRes Conversion . I downloaded the trial version, after seeing the output video I was impressed and purchased this APP right away.
Here’s a fast guide of converting GH2 1080/24p AVCHD to ProRes for FCP and keeping original quality level.
Step 1. Load DMC-GH2 footage to Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac.
Use USB cable to connect GH2 to iMac/MacBook Pro, run Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac as the best 2011 AVCHD to ProRes 422 converter on Mac 10.6 Snow Leopard, 10.5 Leopard and 10.4 Tiger. Click the "Add" button to import .mts files from camcorder to the converter.
Step 2. Choose ProRes codec with 1080 video size.
Click the "Format" option, and move mouse cursor to Final Cut Pro > Apple ProRes 422(HQ) (*.mov) as output format. Click the "Settings" button and choose 1920*1080 from the drop-down box of video size to keep HD resolution.
Step 3. Convert Panasonic AVCHD video to MOV for FCP 6.
Click the convert button under the preview window, the Mac Panasonic video converter will start converting 1080/24p at 24Mbps AVCHD footage to ProRes 422 for FCP 6.After the conversion from Gh2 to ProRes 422 HQ for FCP or GH2 AVCHD to ProRes 422, you can import the output .mov files to Final Cut Studio for editing.
Now you can show the edited HD video to the whole world on YouTube, enjoy it!
