How to Edit Canon XF100 MXF Files in FCP and Burn them in iDVD?

Which is the most common video format used in HD camcorder? It is no doubt that MTS is the best answer to the question with its applications on numerous popular HD camcorders. Even so, MXF is also an important format which should not be neglected. Developed as an advanced HD video format, MXF always stands for high-end and professional in camcorder market.

MXF is a "container" or "wrapper" format which supports a number of different streams of coded "essence", encoded with any of a variety of codecs, together with a metadata wrapper which describes the material contained within the MXF file. MXF has been designed to address a number of problems with non-professional formats. MXF file format is not compatible with many programs. So you may have problem to play, edit or use these format. So are Panasonic HVX200/HPX300 MXF files, P2 MXF files and Canon XF100 are also included.

Follow the step to convert MXF files for FCP now and burn them in iDVD.

Step1: Download and install the best Mac MXF Converter, TransMXF for Mac and add your MXF file by clicking "Add" in the File menu or in the main interface.

Tips:

If your MXF files are individual and the file folder does not contain any audio file, the program would inform you when you are importing them to TransMXF for Mac. The best way to solve this problem is to back up your MXF files together with the whole audio files in a same file folder. Only in this way, your output files can have a formal and synchronic audio and video track.

Step2: In "Format" drop down list box, you may select output format. The software allows setting different output formats according to different files. For example, I just set the Apple ProRes 422 MOV as output format of the MXF file.

Finally, click the convert button and the conversion from MXF to ProRes 422 MOV will begin and the conversion won’t take much time before finished. Then you can freely import the files to FCP without any rendering. And burning videos to disks in iDVD seems very easy to do, in this way; you need not spend much time on waiting for MXF videos being rendered in FCP and you will not worry about that MXF camcorders are of much troubles during using them.
