For my family, watching the recordings together can be a time of happy memories. Watching the recordings, even if its years apart, can be a special time to bring the family together by remembering fondly a unique, shared experience. Pop some popcorn and make it fun evening event. The movies can be used as a means of reminding our children how much we wanted them and care for them. So all my recordings are kept perfectly in DVDs or BD discs, nowadays, I bought a new Panasonic HDC-TM900, and we just went to Spain and took a day trip to Tanger. The Panasonic TM900 was so amazing to see everything and hear everything in high quality.

Yesterday, I just wanted to log and transfer all the recordings which I found are MTS videos from TM900 to Final Cut Pro 7 for editing as usual. Unfortunately, the FCP didn’t see them. Searched on online, I realized the 1080/60p videos recordings can not be compatible with Mac software, so I need a conversion, but I don’t want to losing quality for converting to other format, I think ProRes 422 HQ is the best codec I'd like to use with FCP 7.

After searched convert tm900 to ProRes 422 HQ, Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac is the recommended by google for converting Panasonic TM900 MTS to ProRes 422 with high quality for FCP on Mac with less compressed Apple ProRes format.

Step 1. Upload Panasonic footage to Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac.
Use USB cable to connect Panasonic camcorder to iMac/MacBook Pro, run Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac as the best 1080/60p AVCHD to ProRes 422 HQ converter on Mac 10.6 Snow Leopard, 10.5 Leopard and 10.4 Tiger. Click the "Add" button to import .mts files from camcorder to the converter.

Step 2. Choose ProRes 422 HQ codec with 1080 video size.
Click the "Format" option, and move mouse cursor to Final Cut Pro > Apple ProRes 422(HQ) (*.mov) as output format. Click the "Settings" button and choose 1920*1080 from the drop-down box of video size to keep HD resolution.

Step 3. Convert Panasonic HDC-TM900 AVCHD video to ProRes MOV for FCP 7.
Click the convert button under the preview window, the Mac Panasonic Video converter will start converting 1080/60p AVCHD footage to ProRes 422 HQ for FCP 7.

After the conversion from TM900 to ProRes 422 HQ for FCP, I can import the output .mov files to Final Cut Studio for editing.

1. If you are using Final Cut Pro 5 or lower version, ProRes is not the best format for you. However, you can choose QuickTime Movie Format > Apple InterMediate Codec(AIC) as output format for editing on Mac.

2. If you records videos in 1080i, you will need to deinterlace 1080i video to progressive mode for smooth playback on Mac computer. Click the Editor button and go to the Effect tab to make sure the checkbox for deinterlacing is ticked before clicking the convert button.
