Sine Panasonic announced 700 series in 2010, AVCHD files in 1080/60p at 28Mbps are mostly recorded with these camcorders. I also take Panasonic HDC-SD700 as my new camcorder. Even though there is Mac compatible logo as described with the camcorder, I could not import the 1080/60p 28Mbps footage to Final Cut Pro.

After google search, the only converter I found, which could handle the format on my Panasonic HDC-SD700, is Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac. It would not only keep 1080/60p resolution and frame rate, but also provides the best quality with 28Mbps output.

To get 60p or 50p frame rate and 28Mbps as bit rate for output videos, just click the "Settings" format and choose 60 or 50 according to your camcorder model in NTSC or PAL. For bit rate, you can enter 28000 as bit ratre in kbps.

During the conversion, Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac will keep HDC-SD700 28Mbps for editing on Mac Final Cut Pro.

1. You may also choose ProRes 422 as the output format with less compression for editing on Final Cut Pro 6 and 7. For ProRes, you can choose the highest bit rate option as output, which will keep video in high quality.

2. Since 28Mbps video footage are recording in 1080/60p or 1080/50p, we do not need to deinterlace the files. If you are converting 1080i .mts or .m2ts files for FCP, you can deinterlace them by clicking the Editor button and go to the Effect tab to make sure the checkbox for deinterlacing is ticked.
