Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S3 will be launched on May 3 at Earls Court, London.
The Galaxy S 3 (which we've also seen referred to as the Galaxy SIII) is bound to be at least powered by a dual-core processor, but there's even been rumour of a quad-core chipset in Samsung's pipeline, which may power the S3. Here's what else we've gathered so far.

Samsung Galaxy S3 UK release date
The Samsung Galaxy S3 launch date has been annouced as May 3. An invite sent to TechRadar confirmed the event will take place at Earls Court in London.
What this shows is that Samsung has done a darn good job at keeping its plans under-wraps and we're still none the wiser on when the Galaxy S3 will actually hit stores.
We expect the Samsung Galaxy S3 to land in your hands soon after the launch event, in an Apple-style assault on the market, which sees super-quick turn around from announcement to handsets getting shipped.
Samsung Galaxy S3 US release date
The Samsung Galaxy S3 launch date has been annouced as May 3. An invite sent to TechRadar confirmed the event will take place at Earls Court in London.
It's been suggested the reason Samsung has delayed the Galaxy S3 until after MWC 2012 is so it can be launched simultaneously in the US and rest of the world.
The Galaxy S2 suffered a US release delay, which saw it arrive several months after the rest of the world and Samsung is keen to avoid the same situation this year.
The US market may see different variants of the Galaxy S3 handset which is set to be revealed on May 3, as Samsung could opt to only launch 4G enabled Galaxy S3's in regions which currently support the high-speed network – thus leaving parts of Europe with a 3G version.
Here’s a run-down of what is being expected in the Samsung Galaxy S3 features and spec sheet:
1. Physical Handling: The Samsung Galaxy S3 is supposed to arrive in much the same way as the S2 with little modifications to the physical structure. The Galaxy almost always boasts a large smartphone – and with features like Flexi Glass being rumored on the Galaxy S3, it sure looks like the phone is going to be one large smartphone for sure.
2. Interface, Display: While some say the smartphone could feature a Super AMOLED display, some opine that it could be FOLED technology too – based out of the Flexi Glass assumption. It is not yet confirmed though.
The UI will be that of Android ICS – the only other ICS-build looks to be Google Nexus for now. With Samsung giving the OS it’s own spin, the TouchWiz will surface on the UI and provide a smoother workflow. It is also said that multi-tasking would be a highlight on the smartphone.
3. Processor, RAM: The Exynos 4212 processor has already made waves. It is said that the Samsung Galaxy S3 specs would have this processor – clocking 1.5GHz Quad-core with dual-core chipset!! That’s something unheard for in smartphones other than the ARM chipsets. Probably Samsung is actually gearing up completely for a face-off with Apple iPhone 5.
A 2GB RAM sounds astounding for a smartphone but that is precisely what the Samsung Galaxy S3 seems to feature. Great for multi-tasking, right?
4. Camera, Multimedia: The camera wars are actually getting heavier these days. Gone are the days of 5 MPs. It’s 8 MPs that are the talk of the town. The Samsung Galaxy S3 might come with a 8 MP camera, equipped with all the bells and whistles of its predecessor.
With 1080p HD video recording capability, things just get better. There is also a 2 MP front-camera rumored for great quality video calls!
5. Storage: The Samsung Galaxy S3 can come with either 16GB or 32GB internal storage. That’s a huge bonus but there’s nothing said about the external flash storage capability. Given that dependence on smartphones and storage on smartphones is increasing daily, 16GB looks somewhat insufficient.
6. Connectivity and Apps: Samsung has already launched 4G phones. But the Galaxy S3 is going to be one full-fledged 4G LTE smartphone that would be a leader of the pack.
The speeds are not yet available but 4G can hit up to 14 or 21 Mbps on HSDPA. WiFi, Optional NFC, USB on the go etc. are some spectacular features on the Samsung Galaxy S3.
Being an Android app, there are going to be various apps on the phone for almost every task that you’d want to complete. Social connectivity, Google apps, PDF document readers and editors are a sure thing.
