First it was Apple with the iPhone that helped AT&T cement its place in the smartphones market. Then Verizon came up with the Android gem in Droid X and now T-mobile makes its fresh entry into the market with the G2. The newest smartphone to hit the market is now taking pre-release orders.
The preorder was opened on the 24th and will be kept open till 4th October. The phone runs the Android 2.2 OS. The hinge design of the 3.7 inch HD screen is just perfect for its likable QWERTY keypad.
The last smartphone to grace T-mobile was the My Touch which was launched last year. However, the G2 comes after ages of the G1 launch which is supposedly the predecessor of the device. Any official verdict could not be had regarding the price of the device. However, the unofficial sources suggest about a 200 dollar price as quoted by TMO News to be found on a screenshot. Wal-Mart is currently the main source to place a preorder. Employees have a limited edition available for prerelease ordering too.
Come the 6th of October, the G2 will be made available to any and everybody in the nation. It will be made available across all retail chains that partner T-mobile in their ventures. The company is the 4th largest of all the carriers of wireless network carriers. The timing of the launch is subtly correct as they will have a head start on the sales made before the winter holidays. It will face stiff competition from the Samsung Fascinate still.
The G2 comes with a darn attractive set of features. The processor used is the Snapdragon 7230 from Qualcomm which processes at 800MHz speeds. The 5 mega pixels camera also enables you to shoot videos at 720p and comes equipped with autofocus and flash. The internal memory of the phone would be 8GB but it is expandable to up to 32GB. That the T-mobile G2 can play Flash files from Adobe only adds to its attractiveness.
