Have you ever been in trouble with importing video files into Final Cut Pro? Actually, most people choose Final Cut Pro to edit their videos mainly for its powerful video editing functions. Recently, Apple released FCP X, which is short for Final Cut Pro X, and it has attracted a large number of users to update FCP to the latest version.

In order to find what had been changed in FCP X and get more functions for video editing, I paid to get Final Cut pro updated. It is reported that FCP X allow more video formats input, including MTS and MOV. So I wondered if my MXF files from Canon XF100 can be imported to FCP X immediately. However, I failed to import Canon XF100 MXF to FCP X and it had troubled me for days.

I found that getting my MXF files converted to Apple ProRes is a good solution, although it seemed not as good as direct importing. Consequently, I found an excellent video tool to help me on the Apple Support Forums.

Now, I would like to share how to convert Canon XF100 MXF to Apple ProRes with you, and all my thankfulness to Aunsoft Studio.

First, I downloaded the trial version of Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac, and after installing, I start the program directly.

Second, import MXF file by clicking add button on the top left of main interface.

Third, if you want to trim, crop or split the video, click the edit button next to add button. And if you want to have a conversion, just click the setting button to set output format.

Forth, find the Apple ProRes 422 and select it without hesitation. And then you can directly click convert button to start conversion.

Several minutes later, I got the final files and succeeded to import them to FCP X and continue my further editing.
